Visiting UGent

I am visiting the University of Ghent (UGent) for 4 days to discuss our joint research activities.  The discussions started with Bernard, followed by Michael, Pieter, Ans, etc.

s-IMG_3205 (3) With Prof. Bernard De Baets, who is leading his research team, called KERMIT.  We discussed my visit to UGent in Feb/Mar 2015, our joint research and other related activities.  It is always nice to discuss something about modelling and its applications.

s-IMG_3206 (3) It was great to have a meeting with Michael for our joint work on risk assessment of invasive species.  It took a long time (nearly five years) to start collaboration, but it’s always nice to develop our idea for better modelling approaches.

s-IMG_3253 Pieter explained me our joint experiment on invasive species.  It’s simple and (perhaps) easy to conduct, but doing as he does would be difficult because of my poor experience on such experiments.

s-IMG_2039 I also had an intensive meeting with Ans (a snapshot from our reunion in ISE2014; no photo from today’s meeting…).  We exchanged our ideas and some results on fish telemetry and some modelling approaches.  I am filled with deep emotion when thinking of how we have been working (sometimes competing and sometimes collaborating; always fun in both cases!).  I met him in ICEM 2006 in Ube, Japan and again in ISE 2009 in Concepcion, Chile, and then my joint research with UGent started.   It’s great that we can develop our joint activities further.
